The
Siamese: is a natural-evolved race, the
Siamese
were imported to Europe in the
end of the
previous century from the former Siam (now
Thailand), where it for centuries has been known
as
royal pets.
The original Siamese had sealpoint, the other three basic colors:
Blue,
Chocolate and Lilac arose spontaneously and has been known for
many years.
After the Second World War a breeding program
was initiated,
which
lead to
the other mesh colors: tabbymasket (striped) in the 4 basic
colors, red and crememasket, and tortie (turtelmasket) in 4 colors with
and without tabby.
The
Siamese is characterized by its extremely long and elegant build,
a quality that breeder
has
made
more pronounced through
the years.
The
Siamese is a medium sized, slender and muscular cat with
a
"tubular" body,
long slender legs and a long, thin, tapering tail (tail whip).
The head
has a
wedge shape with a long straight profile. The ears are
large and open and sit low on the head. The eyes are almond shaped and
oblique and has a wonderful blue color.
Foreign White: in the 50s and 60s English breeders paired
Siamese
cats
with domestic cats to create a completely
one coloured
cat with
the
Siamese
Oriental elegant build and temperament. This created the foreign white
- "The white Siamese."
"The
foreign white
Siamese"
have blue eyes and
it
is therefore considered
a
Siamese (at least
in Europe). The white color is caused by a dominant gene that
"overshadows"
the
markings. It is a very beautiful cat to behold: snow-white
fur all over and bright blue eyes. Unfortunately the
demand for
this type color is declining, perhaps because most people associate a Siamese with a
"mask" -
therefore there are not a lot of breederes
left who breed this beautiful cat -
Supply and demand should of course accompany
each other.
"The
Oriental" also arose as a product of the aforementioned breeding.
"The
Oriental" has
the
Siamese elegant build and temperament. It is plain or
patterned on the entire body and has intense green eyes. The first
"Orientals"
were solid in the 4 basic colors, but
"the
Orientals"
are
now
breed
in all
the
Siamese
color, in every conceivable pattern (classic tabby,
tiger tabby, spotted and ticked) and silver variants.
The
Siamese
cats have all the cat's good qualities
to a
almost excessive degree:
Its love is insistent and possessive
and its contact
needs are unsaturated. It is very active,
curious and wants to be involved in everything you are
doing (works as food control and newspaper and book censor!) It
cannot stand to be alone, so if you are
away from
home for
more than 4 hours
on a
daily
basis,
it is always a good idea to have 2 or more cats
to
keep each other
company.
